Spain and Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is set to miss the rest of the season, which could put his World Cup hopes in jeopardy, following knee surgery reports have revealed. Torres has scored 18 goals in 22 matches this season – which has been plagued by injury. Torres has played in seven World Cup 2010 qualifying games, however he failed to hit the back of the net in a single game. Torres played a significant part in Spain’s last World Cup campaign scoring three goals.
