Atletico Madrid’s young forward Sergio Aguero looks like he is set to stay at the Vicente Calderon next season as his club reveal they are yet to receive a big money bid for the young Argentinian. Manchester United and Chelsea were both linked to the youngster - with interest cooling of late with United signing Michael Owen and Chelsea signing young Daniel Sturridge.
There were reports that Manchester United had offered £30million plus Portuguese winger Nani in an attempt to persuade the Madrid club to sell. However, Atletico Madrid club president Enrique Cerezo has denied the suggestions that Manchester United have made an offer for Sergio Aguero. “Manchester United has not made any offers for ‘Kun’ [Aguero] – and we will not sell any player. We will not sell Aguero, Forlan, Simao – because we don’t want to sell any of our players.” Cerezo was speaking with La Marca on Friday.
Aguero is yet to play in a World Cup finals tournament – but will most definetely feature next summer in South Africa, providing Argentina qualify for the finals! Legend Diego Maradona has struggled since taking over as first team coach and will have to improve if he is to grace the finals again. Aguero will be competing for a first team place with Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez.
