Ribery to stay at Bayern? No moves to United or Barca

French International forward Franck Ribery looks like he will be staying at Bayern Munich as both European Cup final managers reveal their interest has cooled over the past few weeks. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that his club ‘explored’ the idea of signing the player, whilst Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola believes that the signing would be ‘impossible’.

Javier Zanetti has spoken of the fact that he is ‘tired’ of all the talk surrounding the potential transfer of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Barcelona and Samuel Eto’o to Internazionale. The Inter legend wants to deal to be ’sorted as soon as possible’ so that his teammates are ready for the new season.

Arsenal midfielder suffers broken leg

French midfielder Samir Nasri has suffered a broken leg at a pre-season camp in Austria on tour with his club Arsenal. The Frenchman fractured his right fibula during a training match and now faces a lay-off of up to three months.

Zlatan and Eto’o to switch clubs

Samuel Eto’o and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are rumoured to be involved in a transfer deal between European Champions FC Barcelona and Internazionale. It is being reported that Swedish striker Ibrahimovic is to be transferred to Barcelona in exchange for Samuel Eto’o and cash, believed to be in the region of £35Million. Aleksandr Hleb is also part of the deal – with the Belarus International going on loan to the Serie A champions for a year.

Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor is the latest signing for Manchester City as the former Arsenal forward completed a reported £25million switch from North London to Eastlands. Adebayor joins Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz and Gareth Barry as Mark Hughes latest signings – with the Eastlands clubs targeting a top four finish.

World Cup Statistics reported yesterday that Carlos Tevez was Manchester City bound subject to a medical – which he completed today and took a swipe at his former gaffer.

Babbel confident of Huntelaar signing

Stuttgart manager Markus Babbel says Klaas-Jan Huntelaar would be the perfect replacement for Mario Gomez, who has joined Bayern Munich, and is confident in signing the Dutch forward – who is yet to play in a World Cup Finals. The move could be exactly what is needed for the striker – who will no doubt be looking to South Africa next summer and considering the competition now at Madrid – a move to Germany will be welcomed.

Bierhoff on positive football and South Africa

Former German striker Oliver Bierhoff, who played in the 1998 and 2002 World Cup Finals, has spoken of the positive effect football has on people and the surprise package of the World Cup next summer. Bierhoff scored the winning goal for Germany against Czech Republic in the final of Euro 96 – the first final to be decided on a golden goal.

Carlos Tevez signs for Manchester City

Former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez has signed for arch rivals Manchester City on a five year deal. Carlos Tevez scored 34 goals in 73 appearances for United over the course of the two year loan deal. The Argentinian forward will wear his trademark 32 shirt at Eastlands next season.
