Brazilian playmaker Kaka has signed for Real Madrid in a world record transfer – that is if you’re working in pounds. The reported £56Million fee that Madrid are to pay AC Milan for the 27 year old eclipses that of the £48Million paid by the same club to Juventus in 2001.
Real Madrid have been monitoring the Brazilian ever since Zidane hung up his boots in 2006, however could never finalise a deal. Kaka went onto lift the 2007 Champions League with Milan – whilst winning the World Player of the year award in the same year. Kaka signed for AC Milan from Sao Paulo in 2003 – and will go down as one of the best players in the clubs history. Madrid confirmed the deal on their website. “Kaka is a player of Real Madrid after an agreement with AC Milan,” a statement read.
For Madrid – this could be the start of a new era with David Villa & Cristiano Ronaldo being lined up as the next transfer targets. Ruud VanNistelrooy has been linked with Spurs so it is clear that the nine times European Champions want to shake up the squad. Real Madrid finished runners up to Barcelona last season – whilst being humbled 5-0 by Liverpool in the Champions League.
