Cristiano Ronaldo set for Madrid £80Million transfer

Cristiano Ronaldo is all set for a record breaking £80Million transfer from English Champions Manchester United to Spanish runners up Real Madrid. Madrid have already signed Kaka earlier in the week for a the record breaking £56Million transfer and have again broken the transfer record with the purchase of the current World Player of the year.

Ronaldo signed for Manchester United in the summer of 2003 – a replacement for David Beckham, who ironically left for Real Madrid – made an immediate impact on his debut in a 4-0 win over Bolton Wanderers. United were drawing 0-0 until the 18 year old came on to the Old Trafford pitch for the first time and changed the game with his dribbing, step overs and amazing skill. 244 appearances and 118 goals later he become the best player in the world winning the Champions League, three Premier League trophies, two League cups and an FA cup in the process.

Real Madrid have been tracking the Portuguese winger ever since the fallout with Wayne Rooney in the 2006 World Cup quarter final between England and Portugal. Ronaldo’s constant desire to leave United was always evident with many fans respected his immense talent but his petulance and constant play acting was always an issue. Ronaldo will start a fresh at the club he dreamed about as a kid. Real Madrid have also been linked Valencia’s David Villa, who is also a Chelsea target.
