Former World Player of the year Luis Figo has decided to hang up his boots at the age of 36 – having played for three of biggest clubs in Europe; Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
The former captain of Portugal saw his Internazionale side crowned Serie A champions on Saturday evening without even kicking a ball after second-placed AC Milan lost at Udinese – a fourth straight Italian championship.
Figo, who scored 32 goals in 127 appearances for Portugal spanning two World Cup Finals, doesn’t believe he will play at the highest level again and also spoke about a possible opportunity in the US. Figo said “I will not play again at the highest level and I will most likely not accept any offer. Only if something special emerges, and it is from outside of Europe, but it is not likely.”
