
Real Madrid’s legendary forward Raul scored a hat trick against Sevilla to put more pressure on Barcelona who were held to a 2-2 draw. Real Madrid and Barcelona meet next week at the Bernabeu in what is an immensely important match as Madrid have an enormous opportunity to pile even more pressure on their rivals from Catalonia.
Barcelona had to rely on French superstar Thiery Henry to equalise as they prepare for their Champions League clash against Chelsea on Tuesday. Messi had put the league leaders 1-0 nil up until Hedwiges Maduro and Pablo Hernandez put Valencia 2-1 into the lead. Barca had seemed sluggish, flat and generally uninterested – however Los Che failed to capitalise on this further.
Madrid edged closer to Barca with an impressive 4-2 victory over Sevilla – with legendary forward Raul scoring a hat trick. The comeback win at Sevilla on Sunday has cut Barcelona’s lead at the top of the Primera Liga standings to just four points – with both clubs set to play next weekend. Real Madrid will be hoping that Barcelona’s distraction in the Champions League will help them in their quest for a third successive La Liga title.
