Internazionale manager Jose Mourinho has denied assaulting a Manchester United fan on Wednesday night. Mourinho was making his way to the team bus after watching his side lose 2-0 to the European Champions when the alleged attack was made.

Goals from Nemanja Vidic and Cristiano Ronaldo put an end to the Nerazzuri’s dream of winning the European Cup since they last won it in 1965. Jose Mourinho was brought to the club in replacement of Roberto Mancini and his main objective was to get his hands on the European Cup – something he will have to wait for at least another season.

Greater Manchester Police released the following statement:

“Shortly before midnight last night a man reported that he had been punched in the face outside Old Trafford,” said a police statement.

“We are investigating an allegation of common assault.”

Internazionale have denied the allegations stating that the Inter head coach was surrounded by club officials as he left the ground – who saw nothing. Mourinho was photographed today signing autographs back in Italy.
