Internazionale have beaten Italy’s oldest side Genoa by two goals to nil in preparation for their Champions League tie against Manchester United on Wednesday.
Goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Balotelli were enough for the win however Inter were made to work hard at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, scoring in either half to seal all three points in a bruising encounter that may yet come back to haunt Jose Mourinho’s side.
The loss of defenders Marco Materazzi and Nicolas Burdisso to injury took some gloss off the victory and Mourinho will be stressing over cover for his defensive backline. Inter are on course for a fourth successive Serie A title – however face a massive task of beating the current European Champions in their own back yards.
Other Serie A Results:
- Roma 1 – 1 Udinese
- Genoa 0 – 2 Internazionale
- Torino 0 – 1 Juventus
Hello WC News. I feel privileged to be the first ‘commenter’! Who thinks Inter can now go on to conquer Utd next week? I was very impressed with Utd in the first leg, they looked a much more threatening team going forward. However……Mourinho really does know the tactics required to beat Utd and his teams have such a winning mentality. I fancy that canny Portugeezer and his BlueNBlacks to pip Utd 1-0 next week. Any opinions on this?
